Legislative Activity

The South Carolina Academy of PAs (SCAPA) hosted PA Day at the Capitol on February 18, 2026, at the South Carolina State House, bringing together 70 PAs and PA students from across the state.

Attendees observed legislative sessions and met with lawmakers to discuss how PAs help expand access to care for South Carolinians, particularly in underserved areas. The event was also featured by ABC 25 Columbia, highlighting ongoing advocacy efforts to reduce barriers to practice and strengthen healthcare delivery statewide.

SCAPA Legislative Fund - Donate Today

SCAPA relies on our members and all PAs in South Carolina for support to monitor legislative activity.

Please make a contribution to our Legislative Fund today. Donations will be used to offset the cost of legislative advocacy that benefits the entire healthcare community and all South Carolinians.

Thank you for your support.

Tax Incentive Legislation

Senate Bill 969, resulting from the Coalition for Increased Access to Care (CIAPC) initiative, was passed in the 2024 legislative session and signed into law by Governor McMaster in July 2024.

This bill recognizes the essential role preceptors play in training future clinicians to address primary care shortages in South Carolina. We are grateful to our legislators, lobbyists, and supporters. Please review the full legislation and Department of Revenue guidance, and consult with your tax accountant to understand how it applies to your situation.
